People with borderline personality disorder feel the system is failing them

Embargoed until: Publicly released:

The current mental heath system is failing to meet the needs of people living with borderline personality disorder adequately, and the condition remains highly stigmatised and misunderstood, according to Australian research. The small study of people impacted by borderline personality disorder found that most feel that the Australian mental health system is not appropriately designed to meet their needs, particularly with regards to service availability and cost. Carers, families and other support people also feel they are not sufficiently integrated into treatment and would like to see improved support services for themselves, say the authors.
