$71 million for new NZ research
The Health Research Council of New Zealand has announced the results of its 2020 Projects and Programmes funding rounds, with more than $71m awarded across 47 new studies. Research funded under the Projects grant includes work to improve Pacific maternal mental health, and the development of a new malaria vaccine. The Programmes grant recipients include Professor Michael Baker, with $5m for work on preventing infectious diseases, and $5m to Associate Professor Nevil Pierse for work to improve the quality of Kiwi housing.
