Until recently, human coronaviruses received relatively little attention due to their mild 'common cold'-like symptoms in otherwise healthy people, but a team of US experts say the emergence of yet another outbreak of human disease caused by a pathogen from this viral family underscores the never ending challenge of emerging infectious diseases and the importance of sustained preparedness.
