Biography

As a ‘tissue engineer’ working in regenerative medicine, I envision a future where stem cells and their derived products can be ‘personalised’ to provide optimal treatments for major diseases. My current focus is on developing a regenerative therapy for osteoarthritis – a debilitating joint disease affecting hundreds of millions of people, old and young across the globe.

I am a Lecturer and NHMRC Early Career Fellow at the University of Technology Sydney (UTS), and a chief investigator on the ARC Training Centre for Innovative BioEngineering. I was trained as a biomedical engineer from a PhD in 2015 and Bachelor of Biomedical Engineering/Medical Science with the University Medal in 2010, both at the University of Sydney. My research achievements have been recognised by the MBSANZ New Investigator Award in 2020, AWTRS Young Investigator Award in 2019, and numerous publication and presentation awards.

I am a passionate science communicator. I frequently volunteer for outreach programs to promote STEM to the younger generation and public community, and strongly advocate for gender and cultural diversity in research. I am one of the STA Superstars of STEM in 2020-21.
