Biography

Dr Kirk is an NHMRC Early Career Research Fellow at the Monash University, Turner Institute for Brain and Mental Health.

After graduating from Newcastle University (UK) with a BSc(Hons) in Psychology, she obtained her PhD from Monash University in 2016.

Dr Kirk’s research focuses on understanding and improving cognitive, behavioural and academic skills in early childhood, particularly in children with developmental disorders (e.g. Autism Spectrum Disorder, ADHD, and Williams syndrome). She is the co-inventor of a novel attention training program, and was awarded the APS Thesis Award for Studies in the Psychology of Intellectual Disability and Autism in 2016. Dr Kirk is listed on an international patent and has secured over $1.5 million in funding to continue developing and evaluating novel tools and interventions for children with developmental disorders.
