Biography

Dr Elena Schneider-Futschik is a specialist in pharmacology and lung health. As a National Health and Medical Research Council Fellow she leads the cystic fibrosis pharmacology research program across the department “Biochemistry & Pharmacology ” at the University of Melbourne aiming to optimise currently available treatments.

For her PhD she received the Mollie Holman Medal which is one of the highest honours Monash University bestows. She has received awards and research support from both public and philanthropic organisations including the Thoracic Society of Australia and New Zealand, Australian Society Clinical and Experimental Pharmacology and Toxicology, the University of Melbourne and the NHMRC.

She frequently presents to community groups and clinicians actively disseminating and translating her clinical research in lung health. Elena was the Australian Delegate to attend the Lindau Nobel Laureate Meeting (2018), a recipient of the John Bertrand Leadership Excellence Award (2017) or Infectious Disease Fellow Award (2016).
